about

Ah, the first song. The tapping pattern that plays throughout was written when I was collaborating with an electronic producer who wanted me to write spacey, ambient riffs with so much reverb that the notes were practically indistinguishable. We parted ways, and I took the little riff and expanded on it ten-fold, throwing on two more riffs, a solo, and the 180 ending. There's no doubt that ambiance plays a huge part in this song, let alone the album. It's probably why we thought we could work together. Alas...this turned out way better. And, as far as the name goes? Soon after writing this song, I decided to write, record, and release this EP all on my own, and immersed myself in it. It was nothing but endless software crashes, gear abruptly breaking down on me, endless all-nighters trying to fix them and/or rerecord everything I'd lost, as well as just way too much caffeine for one person. But, I was happy. All of those problems that made me want to put my head through a wall, couldn't shake my new-found ambition. Nothing could. Calling it an epiphany is an understatement, but it sounds better as a song title than "Dave went crazy."
